He attended the Grace United Methodist Church in Albion. He was a member of the Mason Lodge, F&A.M. #304. He was a private pilot and enjoyed his time flying. Wayne graduated from Edinboro State Teachers College. He taught in a one room school house, grades 1-8 in Keepville and Bumpus, where he enjoyed field trips with his students. He was associated with Rogers Brothers Trailer as chief engineer until 1954 when he opened R. Wayne Fobes Trailers Sales and Services in Albion and Cleveland, Ohio. He retired in 2000.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Lou Ellen Rindo and a brother, Lesley Fobes.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Frenzel Fobes whom he married on Feb. 24, 1940; two brothers, Dale (Lynette) Fobes, Albion and Russell Fobes, Saegertown; a sister, Phyllis (Leonard) Goldhart, Albion; and several nieces and nephews.
Interment in Albion Cemetery.
